downtown south park los angeles: an opportunity to build a happy tribe

the collective community of real estate developers and their managers, brokers, real estate agents, and other decision makers and stake holders in south park los angeles have to make wise decisions about how to brand and market south park.
so far they have chosen gloss and floss assuming that south park is going to be the ‘next manhattan.’
love the idea: have you been to Manhattan lately? farmer’s markets, ‘community stores’ ‘pop-up stores,’ organic (true organic-talk to mike van parys) furnishings boutiques, wellness centers, and an overall emphasis by Manhattan developers and decision makers to move away from the old Manhattan to a better, brighter, funner, and therefore more marketable Manhattan.
that’s what’s happening in manhattan: they are building happy tribes by respecting their consumers and tenants, offering the next, best wave of branding: connectivity, community, networking, joy, and flexibility.
we have that opportunity-the question is-will we really be the next Manhattan (pay it a visit) or a few blocks of really expensive, shiny over-hyped buildings next to the Staples Center?
